Professional Background:

Alma started as an Admin Staff, she worked in the Oil Field Industry and State Government in Mexico. She has 20 plus years of Administrative Management. Implementation, Planning and coordinating administrative procedures and systems and devising ways to streamline processes, including creating the administrative forms. Monitoring of Purchase Orders, Petty Cash and reimbursements. Receipt, review, and entry of the invoices to the accounting system. Control of costs. Revision of contracts with suppliers. Review and pre-authorization of expenditure accounts of Procurement, QHSE, Laboratory and Operations staff (Base and field). Personnel Logistics. Human Resources Department. Alma also worked 15 years of Inventory Controlling. Monitor inventory of office supplies and the purchasing of new material with attention to budgetary constraints. She has 18 years of experience of Information Analysis (Monitoring the media for the development of media reports and public opinion as well as development of informational cards containing summaries of the information. Collection, classification, and analysis of information to be used in newsletters. Responsible for verification of projects and validation of the proceedings of the Sectoral Subcommittee. Writing and control of internal and external documentation and correspondence. Collection of information for the registration of sectoral indicators. Physical and Electronic File Control) and has been an English-Spanish Translator since 2004.

Steve Sunstrom

Stephen spent 20 years in the US Air Force, in various leadership, human resources, training, and development roles. One of his most memorable roles was when he facilitated college level classes for mid-level supervisors. The goal was to provide the students with various leadership tools and concepts to help make them successful in their future roles. During the four years in the role, he impacted over 300 leaders by facilitating 4.7K hours of curriculum. He is truly passionate about helping others identify and grow into the best versions of themselves.

After his retirement in 2016, he continued his focus on developing others – both personally and professionally. He has created and implemented accelerated development programs for leaders in both the private sector and higher education.

Using his Background:

He uses this information and his extensive background to develop and improve leaders at Patriot Martial Arts and Self-Defense in Universal City. Stephen focuses his time on developing our Black Belt Instructor Cadre to create challenging and dynamic classes for our students. He continually motivates everyone around him to be the best versions of themselves.

Currently, he is the Master Instructor responsible for our Ketsugo Ryu Jujitsu program and is projected to test for 6th DAN in September 2024. He has provided background and insight on the recently updated leadership manual.

Steve has been married to his wife, Terri, for over 20 years and has three amazing children who also have Black Belts – Nicholas, Madison, and Tatiana. He spends most of his free time supporting his church. In addition to teaching Ketsugo Ryu Jujitsu, he also enjoys recreational & technical SCUBA diving and.

I am Sensei Austin and I currently serve as the Head Instructor of our school! Starting as a student with Patriot Self Defense since 2007, I became a member of the Leadership team in 2008. I have had the privilege of serving as an Assistant Instructor, Lead Instructor, Demo Performance Team Captain and Director during my time at our school! With my professional background in Emergency Medical Services, and an educational background in Political Science, Organizational Leadership and Management, and became a member of the National Student Leadership Conference.
